Table Of Contents
What Is Flea Market Flipping?
Flea market flipping is simply the act of buying items from places like flea markets, thrift stores, and yard sales for low prices and then selling them on sites like eBay or Facebook Marketplace for a profit.
By flipping items you can make $1,000’s easily. Actually, you can make over $100,000 a year like my friends Rob and Melissa! (more on this soon)
Flipping is super easy to do and pretty much anyone can do it! All you need is some cash to start with and some knowledge on what items to flip and which ones you shouldn’t.
This is why I will talk about 2 courses later in the post that I recommend you to take so you can start making money right away without making common flipping mistakes.
And get this…
There is a way to start flipping items for a profit even if you have no money to start buying items!
Stick with me we will go over this soon…
How To Flip Items?
The awesome thing about flipping items is that anyone can do it! You don’t need a lot of money or a college degree, all you need to do is just start.
Now of course having extensive knowledge in certain items will help you greatly but it’s not necessary.
For example, if you are knowledgable in art then you will be able to spot out the pieces that will get you the most profit.
If you don’t know anything about an item a quick search on Google, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, etc… will give you a good idea of what you can get for the item.
For flea market flipping just go to your local flea market and look around for a product that catches your eye, negotiate for a good price and then sell for a profit.
You can also find products to flip at thrift stores, yard sales, or on sites like eBay, Facebook Marketplace, and Craigslist.
Just start with smaller/cheaper items and then work your way up to more expensive items as you gain more experience.
Flipping For A Living
A question that is asked a lot is if it is possible to flip items for a living?
And the answer is…
Yes, it is definitely possible but that doesn’t mean it’s easy!
My friends Rob and Melissa make over $100,000 a year by just flipping items!
And get this…
They are sharing all their secrets with you in their Flipper University course!
You will get all the information you need to know about making $1,000’s flipping items and even making a full-time income flipping.
But Rob and Melissa aren’t the only ones that are full-time flippers. There are others flipping items full time.
Check out this thread on Reddit about someone going full time flipping. Also, this thread and this thread.
So, as you can see it is definitely possible to flip items for a living!
Best Money Makers At Flea Markets
The great thing about flipping is that there isn’t one item or a few items that are better money makers than others.
For example, furniture sells really well and you can look to make a couple of hundred dollars per item but you can sell an old action figure to make over $1,000 in one shot.
That’s why the flipping game is so awesome and interesting!
And this is why you should do some research on items if you are not sure how to price them.
I also recommend using a barcode scanner app on your phone to quickly search items that have barcodes on them.
Other times you just have to take some risk and take a chance on the item. For example, an old worn-out watch that’s selling for $10 might make you a $1,000 profit!
So, always keep an open mind and a keen eye out for items that will fetch in a massive profit like antiques and collectibles. Also, remember to do your research on items you don’t know much about.
There aren’t any clearly defined best items to resell for profit but are there items that don’t sell?
Flea Market Items That Don’t Sell
Now that we know there aren’t any specific items that are the best money makers at flea markets, are there any flea market items that don’t sell?
I mean if you want to start a side hustle in flea market flipping you want to make sure you are not wasting money on bad items!
A typically bad item that doesn’t sell too well is old technology items. Now there are some exceptions to this like vintage collectible items but typically most people don’t want old tech.
For example, nobody really wants an iPhone 4.
Another type of item you might have some trouble with is clothing items. Fashion styles change constantly and high-end items are easily faked so keep an eye out for knock-offs.
There are also some other one-off items you might find at flea markets and yard sales that don’t really sell well because there isn’t much of a market for it.
So, make sure you are scoping out items properly and doing your research if you aren’t sure if the item will sell.
Now that you know that flipping is an awesome side hustle where you can make $1,000’s and even make a full-time income let’s go over some flea market flipping tips you need to know.
- Start off with smaller/cheaper items to gain experience first.
- Make sure you are doing your research on products you are not knowledgeable about.
- Use a barcode scanner or Google Lens on your phone to quickly lookup items so you can get an idea of pricing.
- Negotiate on everything! Do your best to get the lowest price possible so you can make more profit.
- Be early to flea markets and yard sales. The good items go fast so make sure you are one of the first ones there so you can get the best items for the best prices.
- Bring cash. This might be obvious but you will need cash for most purchases and it gives you more negotiating power.
- Go with a partner if you can. By having a partner you can scope out more items quickly, you can research products faster and you will be able to get larger items that you couldn’t have gotten by yourself.
- Be consistent and patient. Some days you might not find any good items and other days you will so stay patient and be consistent.
Now that you have the best flipping tips to use let’s go over an awesome flipping hack you can use to make some free money!
Do you remember when I said that you can start flipping even if you have no money to start with?
Well, here it is…
The hack is that you can find free items on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and Letgo that you can sell for 100% profit!
For example, here is a table on Letgo that you can pick up for completely free:
You can sell this table for a quick $100! Plus, you can even repair the table a bit so it can be more valuable and get even more money.
The “catch” with these free items is that they go very fast so when you see one that can be sold for good money you have to hop on right away!
So, if you are strapped for cash but want to enter the flipping game to make some extra money this hack is for you.
Heck, even if you have money to start flipping I recommend you still keep an eye out for free products that you can flip to make some quick and free money!
