So you have decided that you need logo for your business?. You want your business to appear professional to your clients/customers. A logo is basically the face of a company. I have put together five key elements that creates an effective logo: Simple, Memorable, Versatile and, appropriate.
Simple
Logos that are fussy are not easy for people to digest in just a few seconds. If a logo has too much to read and a lot of elements to digest people will lose interest quickly. Simplicity in a logo wins every time. Think about logos like Apple or Nike there are as simple as they come yet easily recognizable. Your logo should be be easy to conceptualize also be easy to identify.
Memorable
Making it memorable goes hand in hand with simplicity. If someone has to look at your logo for more than five seconds to figure out what it is, you have missed your mark. Your logo should be memorable at just a glance, because typically that’s as much time you will get from most views. If your logo is too fussy, it will be harder for viewers to remember it. This is the reason why it is important to keep things simple.
Timeless
Your logo should be able to last or stand on its own with very little changes over time. Avoid trendy design styles and focus on longevity. Having a logo that follows a trend, will fade away with that particular trend. Having a logo that looks like it belongs in some time in the past, will affect your brand. Therefore, your logo should be able to represent your brand for many years to come.
Versatile
A logo should be eligible no matter what the presentation is. It should be able look good in full color, single color black and white or grey scale. A good logo should be able to be adjusted in various sizes and dimension and still maintain its eligibility. You should be able to recognize a logo if its scaled down to the size of a penny, and should look good if its scaled up to the size of a billboard.
Appropriate
Your logo should take your audience into account and not just your personal taste happened to be. Keep your business and core operations in mind. Understand your customer/client base and use colors and fonts that will appeal to them. Understand your type of business and your logo should reflect your niche. Your logo should look like it belongs in the market you are serving.
